THIS IS A BENEFIT CD. ALL PROFITS WILL BE DONATED TO THE JOHNGLICK MEMORIAL FUND.

"The Returnables were born when four guys got together in 1997 to down a case of Huber Bock and cover some Undertones tunes. They came to end on 7/14/05, when guitarist John Glick was killed alongside Silkworm's Michael Dahlquist and The Dials' Doug Meis In a tragic auto collision. But the music goes on."

These are the final songs from this insanely underrated Chicago band. 4 studio tracks and 3 live cuts, including a Wedding Present cover. As good as their older material was, it’s safe to say that this is their best stuff, which makes the loss of John Glick all the more tragic.

Really great skinny-tie/punk/powerpop/garage rock brimming with energy and clever lyrics, influenced by the likes of The Undertones, (John used to play in a Undertones cover band called The Underclones. If that ain’t cool, I dunno what is.) Buzzcocks,The Replacements, The Who, and "Over The Edge". (both the movie and it’s soundtrack)

REVIEWS:

DAGGER ZINE: Dirtnap keeps cranking out high quality punk music that usually has a twisted pop angle nestled in there somewhere.... if you dig this sort of garagey power-pop as much as I do then this will tickle that sweet spot in your brain that weed never seems to reach anymore.... A sad end to the great promise of a fine band........ . ( www.dirtnaprecs.com )

LEFT OF THE DIAL ZINE: .....There is something uncanny at work here, a kind of wit and interplay and harmonizing that feels like swirling synergy between folks who’ve absorbed way too much Only Ones, Dickies, and the Zeroes, as if every ‘45 that adorned your wall has ended up being scrunched anmelted down between their amplifiers and drum set......

UNDER THE VOLCANO ZINE: Everything about this 7-song release shouts an urgent fervent zeal for life, making me wanna bounce around the room like a giddy, hyperactive brat in a cage full of rubber balls..... These are unfortunately the final recordings of The Returnables due to the untimely death of their vocalist/guitarist John Glick (a.k.a. Bobby James Lee Ray) in a car wreck last July. All proceeds from the sale of this sonically frenetic disc will go to the John Glick Memorial Fund, so if that’s not incentive enough to purchase a copy of your very own, then just buy it for the sheer passionately joyous noise contained herein.
